Drug Delivery Systems
Successful disease management needs efficient drug delivery systems. Unsuitable drug delivery systems lead to the leaching of drug and may not be available to the animal at appropriate concentrations. We have developed a Chitosan based microencapsulated drug delivery system to combat this problem. Using this, we could deliver beta -glucan with bacterin preparation to the larvae of Macrobrachium rosenbergii and obtained a 100% increase in survival compared to controls. The delivery system is of universal nature and may be used to study the various nutritional requirements of larvae.
