Dr.I.S.Bright Singh, graduated from Annamalai University in 1979, obtained a PhD from Cochin University of Science and Technology in 1987. He then worked as Assistant Professor in Fishery Microbiology at the College of Fisheries, Kerala Agricultural University. In 1991 he moved on to CUSAT as Senior Lecturer in Microbiology and then promoted as Reader. He specializes in Environmental Microbiology and Aquatic Animal Health. He is a research guide at CUSAT and Visiting Professor at Northumbria University. His research is being funded by Government of India institutions such as Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Department of Ocean Development, Marine Products Export Development Authority, International organizations such as The Wellcome Trust, United Kingdom, and International Foundation of Science, Sweden and state institutions such as State Committee on Science and Technology and Environment and Department of Fisheries, Government of Kerala. He has 6 ongoing externally funded projects and has successfully completed 16. He has guided 8 PhD programmes and 15 are underway. He is the recipient of Young Scientist award, State committee on Science and Technology. Currently, the Regional Shrimp Health Expert of NACA and Task Force Member of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Centre for Fish Disease Diagnosis and Management is his brainchild.

Dr. A. Mohandas
Emeritus Professor
Prof. Dr .A. Mohandas did his post graduation in Zoology with Entomology, and Ph.D in Parasitology- Helminthology from, The University of Kerala, Trivandrum, Kerala in 1966 and 1972, respectively. He started his career as a staff in a research project at Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum, later joined Cochin University of Science and Technology as Lecturer at The Dept of Marine Science.
In 1984 he was appointed as Reader at the School of Environmental Studies, CUSAT, later he served as Head, Director of the School, and also Dean, Faculty of Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences- Mahatma Gandhi University , Kerala. He has 30 years of Research and 29 years of Teaching experiences. He is a Fellow of Bioved Research Society, Helminthological Society of India, and Academy of Environmental Biology and member of American Society of Parasitology, National Academy of Sciences, India, Indian Society of Parasitology, Indian Society of Helminthology and the Academy of Environmental Biology, India. He had been the Principal Investigator for various research projects. He has served as member of the Syndicate, Academic Council, and Senate of CUSAT and various other academic and non-academic committees of the University. He served as Visiting Research Scientist- Medical University of South Carolina, USA during 1984 -1985, also visited University of South Florida- Thampa, University of Tennessee, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, Mississippi etc. He had been the Post - Doctoral Fellow (Senior) of the Commission of the European Communities at Vrije, The Netherlands during 1991. He has guided 9 Ph.Ds and has 93 publications to his credit and he is the Chairperson of the Board of Advisors of the Centre for Fish Disease diagnosis and management. He is also the nominee of the president of India at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and expert in the research council of the Regional Research Laboratory (CSIR), Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. Philip did her post graduation in Marine Biology and Ph.D. in Marine Microbiology from School of Marine Sciences, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin in 1981 and 1987 respectively. She joined the School of Marine Sciences as a Faculty in 1989. Her research interest includes

1. Marine microbial diversity (Bacteria, fungi, yeast and actinomycetes)
2. Bioactive compounds for aquaculture applications from marine microbes
3. Utilization of marine microbes as bioremediators and immunostimulants in aquaculture
4. Antimicrobial peptides in marine crustaceans
5. Hematology of penaeid prawns in relation to environmental alterations and pathogenic invasion.

She has guided 3 Ph.Ds and 11 Ph.D programmes are underway

Dr. Joseph did her Master’s (1993) in Environmental studies and Doctoral programme (1998) in Algal Biotechnology at School of Environmental Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology. Thereafter, she was a Research Associate at National Environmental Engineering Institute, Nagpur where her work encompassed modeling of ecological systems. She has been with this Centre since 2003. She has 12 publications.

· Ecology and productivity of phytoplankton in closed-shrimp grow-out systems
· Cyanobacteria in shrimp grow-out systems
